Wow, that was a long gap. I'm back at Barclaycard, still contracting, and back for a third term. The Sheffield thing didn't last quite as long as expected, but the IT recovery has been a fickle thing - and I hear they're on fire for people again now. Ho hum.
The Barclays thing does bring together a number of recent past things - Websphere Security, LDAP and LTPA, IBM MQ and Cobol CICS back-end, directly connecting to EJB stateless services in the mid tier, and a Chordiant front end. On the home front, some friends have decided they're off to Canada, and I can't help thinking if the USA comes up again as a destination, we'll soon be after them. The oily diesel has gone, and I've gone back to a Cherokee - must be a Jeep thing!!

Well, next stop Sheffield. I've got a new contract now, to see me through until March, developing a web based mortgage application system using IBM Websphere. The initial development at Unisys is done, and now is a good time to move on, prior to the next phase. On the home front its been a bit of a rollercoaster month, with the death of a dear friend Andy Singleton, and a re-discovering of some old friendships.

Back from my hols now, I can strongly recommend the Vendee (St Jean de Monts) as a great family holiday destination. I changed the car, and am now enjoying the 50mpg plus of an oily diesel. My old digs have closed, so I'm now on the lookout for a new home from home in Milton Keynes.

Can't believe its a whole month since I updated this. I'm selling my lovely Speedster as I can't afford to run 3 cars anymore. Its a great shame, but someone is going to get a really cool car. Work is progressing apace, its a big project and there are a load of great folks in the team. Shame its such a long drive.

Been at Unisys for a few weeks now, and its pretty cool. They're a great bunch of folks, and its hard work! Driving up and down is a bit of a drag through, although the Speedie has managed about 5K so far. From what I can gather, things seem to be picking up, so lets hope come Sept, I can get something to do a little nearer home.

Well I now have a new contract - this time its Milton Keynes. Thanks to all of those agencies who worked hard to find something for me. I will be busy now for at least the next 6 months - available again in earnest at the end of September.

13 March 2003

I have updated my whole web site, in order to try and rationalise where things are. The old site can sitll be reached at http://www.akafish.com/oldsite and will remain there for sometime, unmodified, to let the search engines and robots do their thing. I am available for work from 31st March 2003, and am looking for contract or permanent work. Please see my contact details on my resume to get in touch, or e-mail me here sfish@innotts.co.uk.
